Meet oral surgeon dr. stavan patel

Dr. Stavan Patel, DDS, MD is a board certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. 

Dr. Patel served in the United States Marine Corps for eight years, then received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Cornell University. After his time at Cornell, he attended Dental School at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in New York City. Dr. Patel obtained his Medical Degree from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine. He completed a General Surgery Internship and an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at the Louisiana State University Health Science Center in Shreveport, Louisiana.  After residency, Dr. Patel expanded his scope of practice by completing Fellowships in Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery, Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery, and Pediatric Cleft and Craniofacial Surgery. Dr. Patel is one of only a few oral surgeons in the country with dual fellowship training in both head and neck oncology/microvascular reconstruction and cleft/craniofacial surgery.

Dr. Patel moved to Reno with his wife and their two year old son. His clinical practice includes expertise in reconstructive craniomaxillofacial / head and neck surgery, oncologic surgery, cleft surgery, and dentoalveolar surgery. He frequently travels internationally for humanitarian outreach to deliver care to patients with clefts or oncologic needs. He has given numerous presentations nationally and internationally at various conferences. His most recent publications encompass cranio-maxillo-facial reconstruction, head and neck oncology, vascularized free tissue transfer, bone grafting, and implant placement.
